Mizuho tackles Japan’s dementia crisis using artificial intelligence & machine learning

The Client

Mizuho Information & Research Institute (MHIR)- part of Mizuho Financial Group, one of Japan’s largest banks.

The Objective

MHIR has set a strategy to develop innovative solutions for the aging population. The number of dementia patients in Japan is expected to reach nearly 7 million by 2025.

The Solution

Using our proprietary process and Mizuho’s criteria, our team identified and vetted all relevant technology partners. With our guidance, MHIR selected MyndYou whose technology monitors cognitive and behavioral functions of older adults, using machine learning and artificial intelligence technologies, to detect aberrations which then signal cause for human intervention.

The Outcome

MHIR validated MyndYou’s technology with 30 therapists in 5 locations across Japan. The two companies have signed a commercial agreement and plan to scale the technology systems and services across Japan.
